How to use Pea

Your Pea account

One free account covers Parse, Paste and Contacts. Create an account with your email, or sign in if you already have one. Your dashboard lives at app.pea.dev.

• Change your password from Account in the dashboard sidebar. We’ll email you a link to set a new one.
• Delete your account from the same page. It removes the account and everything stored on it, and it can’t be undone.
• Your vault passphrase is separate from your password. It encrypts Contacts on your device, and we can’t see or reset it.

Parse

Install and pin it

1. Open Parse on the Chrome Web Store and choose Add to Chrome.
2. Click the puzzle piece icon at the top right of Chrome, then the pin next to Parse, so the icon stays on your toolbar.
3. Open any page with US phone numbers or ZIP codes. Badges with the local time appear beside them.

Look something up by hand

Click the Parse icon and pick Phone, State or ZIP. Type the number and the result shows the local time, a greeting and the weather. For a list, use the bulk lookup.

Daily lookups

Without an account Parse includes 50 weather lookups a day. Sign in from the popup with a free Pea account for 250. Local time keeps working after the limit, and the count resets every day.

Turn it off on a site

Open the popup on that site and choose Disable on this site. To see every disabled site, or to stop a single number from being badged, open Parse’s settings from the gear icon.

Paste

Send something

1. Go to app.pea.dev/paste and sign in.
2. Type the message, attach files, or both. Choose an expiry and leave burn after reading on if it should delete itself once opened.
3. Add a password if you like, and a label that only you will see.
4. Choose Create link. Copy the link or the 10-character code now, since this is the only time the code is shown.

Send a password through a different channel than the link, for example the link by email and the password by text.

Open one you received

Click the link, or go to pea.dev/p and type the code. You don’t need an account. If it opens once, copy or download what you need before leaving the page.

Check whether it was opened

The Sent tab lists every paste with its status: Waiting, Opened, Opened and deleted, Expired or Destroyed. Delete now stops a waiting link from working.

Contacts

Set up your vault

1. Open app.pea.dev/contacts and sign in.
2. Choose a vault passphrase. It never leaves your device, so pick one you’ll remember.
3. Save the recovery code somewhere offline. It is the only way back in if you forget the passphrase.

Bring your contacts over

Export a vCard (.vcf) from Google Contacts, Outlook or iCloud and import it into a book. You can keep up to five books, each with its own name, icon and color.

The extension

The Contacts extension is in testing and will be on the Chrome Web Store soon. Once installed, click any phone number on a page to copy, call, text or save it, and press Alt+Shift+C to open your books.
